Ladoix

Village appellation

Côte de Beaune

Red and white

Coming down from the Côte de Nuits, Ladoix is the first village of the Côte de Beaune. It is often driven through and too rarely stopped at.

The appellation dates from 1937 and covers about 100 hectares, a quarter of them classified Premier Cru. Roughly three bottles out of four are red, from Pinot Noir; the rest is white, mostly Chardonnay.

The commune of Ladoix-Serrigny also owns the north-eastern flank of the Corton hill. Some of its vines are therefore entitled to the Grand Cru names Corton and Corton-Charlemagne, which explains why the village name is so rarely seen on its best bottles.

Its 11 Premiers Crus include La Micaude, La Corvée, Les Joyeuses, Bois Roussot, Les Grêchons et Foutrières, and Le Clou d'Orge.
